When I was young, my parents would always insist that I should eat more. I did that seeing that it made them proud. I realized as I grew older that this doesn't sit well with old age or even in general. It's usually a challenging fight with yourself when it comes to food. You have to have that discipline, and so I tried. I didn't expect this would also help with my happiness. I started feeling more grateful during celebrations. Only having a decent amount of food for your everyday life helps in giving a distinction when there's an event. Just think that prizes won't feel like they're worth it if you happen to receive them every day. So eat a decent amount, and you'll appreciate the celebrations deeper.
